GeForce 825M vs Radeon RX 6900 XT

Intro

The GeForce 825M has a clock speed of 850 MHz and a DDR3 memory frequency of 900 MHz. It also makes use of a 64-bit memory bus, and makes use of a 28 nm design. It features 384 SPUs, 16 Texture Address Units, and 8 ROPs.

Compare all of that to the Radeon RX 6900 XT, which features core speeds of 1825 MHz on the GPU, and 2000 MHz on the 16384 MB of GDDR6 memory. It features 5120 SPUs as well as 320 TAUs and 128 Rasterization Operator Units.

GeForce 825M 33 Watts
Radeon RX 6900 XT 300 Watts
Difference: 267 Watts (809%)

Memory Bandwidth

In theory, the Radeon RX 6900 XT should be 3541% faster than the GeForce 825M in general, because of its higher data rate. (explain)

Radeon RX 6900 XT 524288 MB/sec
GeForce 825M 14400 MB/sec
Difference: 509888 (3541%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 6900 XT will be quite a bit (about 4194%) more effective at texture filtering than the GeForce 825M. (explain)

Radeon RX 6900 XT 584000 Mtexels/sec
GeForce 825M 13600 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 570400 (4194%)

Pixel Rate

If using a high screen resolution is important to you, then the Radeon RX 6900 XT is superior to the GeForce 825M, by a large margin. (explain)

Radeon RX 6900 XT 233600 Mpixels/sec
GeForce 825M 6800 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 226800 (3335%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the max amount of information (counted in MB per second) that can be transferred over the external memory interface in one second. It is worked out by multiplying the interface width by its memory speed. If it uses DDR type memory, the result should be multiplied by 2 again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The better the memory bandwidth, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that can be applied in one second. This number is worked out by multiplying the total amount of texture units by the core speed of the chip. The higher this number, the better the card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels that the graphics card can possibly record to its local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is worked out by multiplying the amount of colour ROPs by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also sometimes called Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel fill rate is also dependant on quite a few other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the max fill rate.
