GeForce RTX 4070 Ti vs Radeon RX 6650 XT

Intro

The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti comes with core speeds of 2310 MHz on the GPU, and 1313 MHz on the 12288 MB of GDDR6X RAM. It features 7680 SPUs as well as 240 TAUs and 80 ROPs.

Compare those specs to the Radeon RX 6650 XT, which makes use of a 7 nm design. AMD has set the core speed at 2055 MHz. The GDDR6 memory runs at a speed of 2190 MHz on this specific model. It features 2048 SPUs as well as 128 Texture Address Units and 64 ROPs.

GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 285 Watts
Difference: 109 Watts (62%)

Memory Bandwidth

The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti should in theory be a lot faster than the Radeon RX 6650 XT overall. (explain)

GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 516096 MB/sec
Radeon RX 6650 XT 287072 MB/sec
Difference: 229024 (80%)

Texel Rate

The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti should be quite a bit (about 111%) faster with regards to AF than the Radeon RX 6650 XT. (explain)

GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 554400 Mtexels/sec
Radeon RX 6650 XT 263040 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 291360 (111%)

Pixel Rate

The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti will be a lot (more or less 41%) better at anti-aliasing than the Radeon RX 6650 XT, and capable of handling higher screen resolutions without losing too much performance. (explain)

GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 184800 Mpixels/sec
Radeon RX 6650 XT 131520 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 53280 (41%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the max amount of information (in units of MB per second) that can be transported across the external memory interface in one second. It is worked out by multiplying the card's bus width by the speed of its memory. If the card has DDR type memory, the result should be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The higher the card's memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, HDR and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum number of texture map elements (texels) that are applied in one second. This figure is worked out by multiplying the total amount of texture units by the core speed of the chip. The better this number, the better the graphics card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels the graphics card can possibly record to its local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is calculated by multiplying the number of Raster Operations Pipelines by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel rate also depends on quite a few other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the potential to reach the maximum fill rate.
