GeForce GTX 1650 vs GeForce RTX 3070 Ti

Intro

The GeForce GTX 1650 has a GPU core speed of 1485 MHz, and the 4096 MB of GDDR5 RAM runs at 2001 MHz through a 128-bit bus. It also is made up of 896 Stream Processors, 56 Texture Address Units, and 32 Raster Operation Units.

Compare all that to the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, which comes with clock speeds of 1575 MHz on the GPU, and 1188 MHz on the 8192 MB of GDDR6X RAM. It features 6144 SPUs as well as 192 TAUs and 96 Rasterization Operator Units.

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

GeForce GTX 1650 75 Watts
GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 290 Watts
Difference: 215 Watts (287%)

Memory Bandwidth

Theoretically speaking, the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti should be quite a bit faster than the GeForce GTX 1650 in general. (explain)

GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 622899 MB/sec
GeForce GTX 1650 131072 MB/sec
Difference: 491827 (375%)

Texel Rate

The GeForce RTX 3070 Ti will be quite a bit (about 264%) more effective at AF than the GeForce GTX 1650. (explain)

GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 302400 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GTX 1650 83160 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 219240 (264%)

Pixel Rate

If running with a high screen resolution is important to you, then the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is superior to the GeForce GTX 1650, by a large margin. (explain)

GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 151200 Mpixels/sec
GeForce GTX 1650 47520 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 103680 (218%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the max amount of data (in units of MB per second) that can be transported past the external memory interface in one second. It is worked out by multiplying the bus width by its memory clock speed. In the case of DDR memory, it should be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the memory bandwidth, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, HDR and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum number of texture map elements (texels) that are applied in one second. This number is calculated by multiplying the total number of texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The better this number, the better the video card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied in one second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels the video card can possibly record to its local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is calculated by multiplying the amount of colour ROPs by the clock speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also called Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel fill rate also depends on quite a few other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the potential to get to the max fill rate.
