Compare any two graphics cards:
GeForce GTX 560 Ti vs GeForce GTX 580
IntroThe GeForce GTX 560 Ti features a GPU core speed of 822 MHz, and the 1024 MB of GDDR5 RAM is set to run at 1002 MHz through a 256-bit bus. It also is comprised of 384 SPUs, 64 Texture Address Units, and 32 Raster Operation Units.Compare those specifications to the GeForce GTX 580, which has GPU core speed of 772 MHz, and 1536 MB of GDDR5 RAM running at 1002 MHz through a 384-bit bus. It also is comprised of 512 SPUs, 64 TAUs, and 48 ROPs.

BenchmarksThese are real-world performance benchmarks that were submitted by Hardware Compare users. The scores seen here are the average of all benchmarks submitted for each respective test and hardware.
3DMark Fire Strike Graphics Score
Power Usage and Theoretical BenchmarksPower Consumption (Max TDP)
Memory BandwidthPerformance-wise, the GeForce GTX 580 should in theory be quite a bit superior to the GeForce GTX 560 Ti in general. (explain)
Texel RateThe GeForce GTX 560 Ti is just a bit (about 6%) faster with regards to anisotropic filtering than the GeForce GTX 580. (explain)
Pixel RateThe GeForce GTX 580 is a lot (approximately 41%) faster with regards to FSAA than the GeForce GTX 560 Ti, and will be capable of handling higher resolutions while still performing well. (explain)
Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit. Price Comparison

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the largest amount of data (in units of megabytes per second) that can be moved over the external memory interface in a second. It's worked out by multiplying the card's interface width by its memory speed. In the case of DDR RAM, the result should be multiplied by 2 again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The better the bandwidth is, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, HDR and higher screen resolutions. Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum number of texture map elements (texels) that can be processed per second. This figure is calculated by multiplying the total number of texture units by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher this number, the better the graphics card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels in a second. Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum amount of pixels the graphics card could possibly record to the local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is worked out by multiplying the number of colour ROPs by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - sometimes also referred to as Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel output rate also depends on quite a few other factors, especially the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the potential to get to the max fill rate.

u know what? im confused that which card should i buy. gtx 560ti or gtx 580.
I bought the 560, as this GPU is cheaper, much cheaper, and has still a significant performance. The overall performance per watt is better, and the overall performance per price unit is better.
yeah with the price of a 580 u can Sli dual 560 that goes better than 580.
What should i buy to run Battlefield 3 on max Gtx 580 Matrix Platinum or Gtx 560 ti Direct II Top Sli mode?
Radeons aren't in the ballpark when it comes to the performance of the GTX 590. The 580 is as good as most of the radeons and to top it all off, the radeons big features are all eyepoppingly unusuable or expensive. As far as 3D cards go, NVIDIA is king. So eat that Grant.
Yeah, what should I buy to run Battlefield 3 on max?
2x560, A 570 or a 580 ? (all Asus Direct CU)
For Battlefield 3 on max u will need 580. But for just a little less than max single 560ti more than enough
I have a GTX580 (Gainward Phantom with 3 GB VRAM) and i can run BF3 at highest settings (all at Ultra, 16x AF, etc.) and always have enough fps. Average: 57fps, Minimum: 48 fps.
I'm getting the same frame rates as you an3k with my EVGA GTX580. It also has 3 GB of VRAM. I'm getting those frame rate at 1920x1080 resolution.
@gpu expert
You call yourself a gpu expert, huh
gtx 580 answers your Question
noted only by its spec...hmmm...looks like they dont have any significant spec differences.
i think it will be much different if you try these two for play some games.
the 580 is much much better then 560.
Why not Sli dual two 3Gb 768-bit ones? Then all your problems would be solved.
hi i'm buying a new gaming pc... what to choose- gtx560 ti or gtx 580?? in terms of performance....
the 580 is much much better then 560
because 580 is more powerfull
