GeForce GT 210 vs Radeon HD 6750 1GB

Intro

The GeForce GT 210 uses a 40 nm design. nVidia has clocked the core speed at 589 MHz. The DDR3 RAM works at a frequency of 800 MHz on this card. It features 16 SPUs as well as 8 TAUs and 4 ROPs.

Compare that to the Radeon HD 6750 1GB, which has a GPU core clock speed of 725 MHz, and 1024 MB of GDDR5 memory set to run at 1000 MHz through a 128-bit bus. It also features 720 SPUs, 36 Texture Address Units, and 16 ROPs.

GeForce GT 210 31 Watts
Radeon HD 6750 1GB 86 Watts
Difference: 55 Watts (177%)

Memory Bandwidth

The Radeon HD 6750 1GB should in theory be a lot faster than the GeForce GT 210 overall. (explain)

Radeon HD 6750 1GB 64000 MB/sec
GeForce GT 210 12800 MB/sec
Difference: 51200 (400%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon HD 6750 1GB should be quite a bit (approximately 454%) faster with regards to anisotropic filtering than the GeForce GT 210. (explain)

Radeon HD 6750 1GB 26100 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GT 210 4712 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 21388 (454%)

Pixel Rate

The Radeon HD 6750 1GB will be quite a bit (more or less 392%) more effective at FSAA than the GeForce GT 210, and also able to handle higher screen resolutions without losing too much performance. (explain)

Radeon HD 6750 1GB 11600 Mpixels/sec
GeForce GT 210 2356 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 9244 (392%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the maximum amount of information (measured in megabytes per second) that can be moved over the external memory interface in a second. The number is worked out by multiplying the card's interface width by the speed of its memory. In the case of DDR type memory, it must be multiplied by 2 again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the bandwidth is, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that can be applied per second. This is worked out by multiplying the total number of texture units of the card by the core speed of the chip. The better this number, the better the video card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels that the graphics chip can possibly record to its local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is calculated by multiplying the amount of Render Output Units by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also called Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel fill rate also depends on quite a few other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the max fill rate.
