GeForce RTX 4070 Ti vs Radeon RX 5600 XT

Intro

The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti has a GPU clock speed of 2310 MHz, and the 12288 MB of GDDR6X memory is set to run at 1313 MHz through a 192-bit bus. It also is made up of 7680 SPUs, 240 TAUs, and 80 Raster Operation Units.

Compare all that to the Radeon RX 5600 XT, which has a GPU core clock speed of 1375 MHz, and 6144 MB of GDDR6 memory running at 1500 MHz through a 192-bit bus. It also is made up of 2304 SPUs, 144 TAUs, and 64 ROPs.

Radeon RX 5600 XT 160 Watts
GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 285 Watts
Difference: 125 Watts (78%)

Memory Bandwidth

The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti should in theory be much faster than the Radeon RX 5600 XT in general. (explain)

GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 516096 MB/sec
Radeon RX 5600 XT 344064 MB/sec
Difference: 172032 (50%)

Texel Rate

The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti will be quite a bit (more or less 180%) faster with regards to anisotropic filtering than the Radeon RX 5600 XT. (explain)

GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 554400 Mtexels/sec
Radeon RX 5600 XT 198000 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 356400 (180%)

Pixel Rate

The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti is quite a bit (more or less 110%) better at full screen anti-aliasing than the Radeon RX 5600 XT, and will be capable of handling higher resolutions better. (explain)

GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 184800 Mpixels/sec
Radeon RX 5600 XT 88000 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 96800 (110%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the max amount of data (in units of MB per second) that can be moved across the external memory interface in a second. It's calculated by multiplying the bus width by its memory speed. If the card has DDR type RAM, it should be multiplied by 2 again. If DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The better the memory bandwidth, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that can be applied per second. This figure is calculated by multiplying the total texture units by the core speed of the chip. The better the texel rate, the better the graphics card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels that the graphics chip can possibly record to the local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is worked out by multiplying the number of colour ROPs by the clock speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - sometimes also referred to as Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel rate is also dependant on lots of other factors, especially the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the potential to reach the max fill rate.
