Radeon RX 560 vs Radeon RX 6950 XT

Intro

The Radeon RX 560 has clock speeds of 1175 MHz on the GPU, and 1750 MHz on the 4096 MB of GDDR5 memory. It features 1024 SPUs as well as 64 TAUs and 16 Rasterization Operator Units.

Compare those specifications to the Radeon RX 6950 XT, which comes with GPU clock speed of 1925 MHz, and 16384 MB of GDDR6 RAM running at 2250 MHz through a 256-bit bus. It also is made up of 5120 Stream Processors, 320 Texture Address Units, and 128 Raster Operation Units.

Radeon RX 560 80 Watts
Radeon RX 6950 XT 335 Watts
Difference: 255 Watts (319%)

Memory Bandwidth

The Radeon RX 6950 XT, in theory, should perform a lot faster than the Radeon RX 560 in general. (explain)

Radeon RX 6950 XT 589824 MB/sec
Radeon RX 560 114688 MB/sec
Difference: 475136 (414%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 6950 XT is much (about 719%) faster with regards to AF than the Radeon RX 560. (explain)

Radeon RX 6950 XT 616000 Mtexels/sec
Radeon RX 560 75200 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 540800 (719%)

Pixel Rate

If using high levels of AA is important to you, then the Radeon RX 6950 XT is superior to the Radeon RX 560, by far. (explain)

Radeon RX 6950 XT 246400 Mpixels/sec
Radeon RX 560 18800 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 227600 (1211%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the max amount of information (in units of MB per second) that can be moved across the external memory interface within a second. It's calculated by multiplying the bus width by its memory clock speed. In the case of DDR memory, it must be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the bandwidth is, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, High Dynamic Range and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum number of texture map elements (texels) that are applied in one second. This is worked out by multiplying the total number of texture units of the card by the core speed of the chip. The higher the texel rate, the better the graphics card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels the video card can possibly record to its local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is worked out by multiplying the number of ROPs by the clock speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel rate also depends on lots of other factors, especially the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the potential to reach the max fill rate.
