Radeon HD 6750 vs Radeon RX 6600 XT

Intro

The Radeon HD 6750 comes with core clock speeds of 725 MHz on the GPU, and 1000 MHz on the 512 MB of GDDR5 RAM. It features 720 SPUs along with 36 Texture Address Units and 16 Rasterization Operator Units.

Compare those specifications to the Radeon RX 6600 XT, which features a core clock speed of 1968 MHz and a GDDR6 memory frequency of 2000 MHz. It also features a 128-bit bus, and uses a 7 nm design. It features 2048 SPUs, 128 TAUs, and 64 ROPs.

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

Radeon HD 6750 86 Watts
Radeon RX 6600 XT 160 Watts
Difference: 74 Watts (86%)

Memory Bandwidth

Theoretically speaking, the Radeon RX 6600 XT is 310% faster than the Radeon HD 6750 in general, due to its greater data rate. (explain)

Radeon RX 6600 XT 262144 MB/sec
Radeon HD 6750 64000 MB/sec
Difference: 198144 (310%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 6600 XT should be much (more or less 865%) better at AF than the Radeon HD 6750. (explain)

Radeon RX 6600 XT 251904 Mtexels/sec
Radeon HD 6750 26100 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 225804 (865%)

Pixel Rate

If using a high screen resolution is important to you, then the Radeon RX 6600 XT is the winner, by far. (explain)

Radeon RX 6600 XT 125952 Mpixels/sec
Radeon HD 6750 11600 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 114352 (986%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the maximum amount of data (measured in megabytes per second) that can be moved past the external memory interface in one second. It is calculated by multiplying the card's bus width by the speed of its memory. If the card has DDR type RAM, the result should be multiplied by 2 again. If DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The better the memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, High Dynamic Range and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that are applied in one second. This is worked out by multiplying the total texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher this number, the better the card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed in one second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum amount of pixels the video card can possibly write to its local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is calculated by multiplying the amount of colour ROPs by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - sometimes also referred to as Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel rate is also dependant on many other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the max fill rate.
