GeForce RTX 2060 vs Radeon RX 6600 XT

Intro

The GeForce RTX 2060 has clock speeds of 1365 MHz on the GPU, and 1750 MHz on the 6144 MB of GDDR6 RAM. It features 1920 SPUs as well as 120 TAUs and 48 ROPs.

Compare all that to the Radeon RX 6600 XT, which has a core clock frequency of 1968 MHz and a GDDR6 memory speed of 2000 MHz. It also makes use of a 128-bit memory bus, and makes use of a 7 nm design. It is made up of 2048 SPUs, 128 TAUs, and 64 Raster Operation Units.

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Both cards have the same power consumption.

Memory Bandwidth

Performance-wise, the GeForce RTX 2060 should theoretically be quite a bit superior to the Radeon RX 6600 XT overall. (explain)

GeForce RTX 2060 344064 MB/sec
Radeon RX 6600 XT 262144 MB/sec
Difference: 81920 (31%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 6600 XT should be much (about 54%) faster with regards to texture filtering than the GeForce RTX 2060. (explain)

Radeon RX 6600 XT 251904 Mtexels/sec
GeForce RTX 2060 163800 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 88104 (54%)

Pixel Rate

The Radeon RX 6600 XT will be quite a bit (about 92%) better at full screen anti-aliasing than the GeForce RTX 2060, and also will be able to handle higher resolutions without slowing down too much. (explain)

Radeon RX 6600 XT 125952 Mpixels/sec
GeForce RTX 2060 65520 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 60432 (92%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the maximum amount of information (in units of megabytes per second) that can be transferred across the external memory interface within a second. It's calculated by multiplying the card's bus width by its memory clock speed. If the card has DDR type RAM, the result should be multiplied by 2 again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The better the card's memory bandwidth, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, HDR and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that can be processed in one second. This number is worked out by multiplying the total texture units by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher the texel rate, the better the graphics card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels the video card can possibly record to its local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is calculated by multiplying the amount of Render Output Units by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also called Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel rate is also dependant on many other factors, especially the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the max fill rate.
