Radeon RX 560 vs Radeon RX 6700 XT

Intro

The Radeon RX 560 features a GPU core clock speed of 1175 MHz, and the 4096 MB of GDDR5 memory runs at 1750 MHz through a 128-bit bus. It also features 1024 Stream Processors, 64 TAUs, and 16 Raster Operation Units.

Compare that to the Radeon RX 6700 XT, which features core speeds of 2321 MHz on the GPU, and 2000 MHz on the (Unknown) MB of GDDR6 RAM. It features 2560 SPUs as well as 160 TAUs and 64 ROPs.

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

Radeon RX 560 80 Watts
Radeon RX 6700 XT 230 Watts
Difference: 150 Watts (188%)

Memory Bandwidth

Theoretically speaking, the Radeon RX 6700 XT is 243% quicker than the Radeon RX 560 in general, because of its greater bandwidth. (explain)

Radeon RX 6700 XT 393216 MB/sec
Radeon RX 560 114688 MB/sec
Difference: 278528 (243%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 6700 XT is a lot (about 394%) more effective at AF than the Radeon RX 560. (explain)

Radeon RX 6700 XT 371360 Mtexels/sec
Radeon RX 560 75200 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 296160 (394%)

Pixel Rate

The Radeon RX 6700 XT should be quite a bit (more or less 690%) more effective at full screen anti-aliasing than the Radeon RX 560, and also should be capable of handling higher screen resolutions more effectively. (explain)

Radeon RX 6700 XT 148544 Mpixels/sec
Radeon RX 560 18800 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 129744 (690%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the maximum amount of information (counted in megabytes per second) that can be transported over the external memory interface in a second. It's calculated by multiplying the interface width by its memory clock speed. If the card has DDR memory, it must be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The higher the card's memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, HDR and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that are applied per second. This is calculated by multiplying the total texture units by the core clock speed of the chip. The better the texel rate, the better the card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied in one second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels the graphics card could possibly write to its local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is calculated by multiplying the amount of Render Output Units by the clock speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel rate also depends on many other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the potential to reach the maximum fill rate.
