GeForce 8800 GT 512MB 105 Watts
GeForce RTX 3080 320 Watts
Difference: 215 Watts (205%)

Memory Bandwidth

Theoretically speaking, the GeForce RTX 3080 should be much faster than the GeForce 8800 GT 512MB overall. (explain)

GeForce RTX 3080 778547 MB/sec
GeForce 8800 GT 512MB 57600 MB/sec
Difference: 720947 (1252%)

Texel Rate

The GeForce RTX 3080 is quite a bit (approximately 1066%) more effective at texture filtering than the GeForce 8800 GT 512MB. (explain)

GeForce RTX 3080 391680 Mtexels/sec
GeForce 8800 GT 512MB 33600 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 358080 (1066%)

Pixel Rate

The GeForce RTX 3080 will be much (approximately 1340%) faster with regards to AA than the GeForce 8800 GT 512MB, and also should be capable of handling higher resolutions more effectively. (explain)

GeForce RTX 3080 138240 Mpixels/sec
GeForce 8800 GT 512MB 9600 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 128640 (1340%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the maximum amount of information (in units of megabytes per second) that can be moved across the external memory interface in one second. It is worked out by multiplying the bus width by its memory clock speed. If it uses DDR RAM, the result should be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the card's memory bandwidth, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, HDR and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that are processed per second. This figure is worked out by multiplying the total amount of texture units by the core speed of the chip. The higher the texel rate, the better the video card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels that the graphics card can possibly record to the local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is worked out by multiplying the number of Render Output Units by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel output rate also depends on lots of other factors, especially the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the max fill rate.
