Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the largest amount of data (measured in megabytes per second) that can be transferred past the external memory interface in a second. It is worked out by multiplying the bus width by the speed of its memory. If the card has DDR memory, the result should be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The better the card's memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that are processed in one second. This number is worked out by multiplying the total amount of texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher this number, the better the video card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels that the graphics card could possibly record to its local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is calculated by multiplying the amount of ROPs by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also sometimes called Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel rate is also dependant on many other factors, especially the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the potential to get to the maximum fill rate.

Hi guys. I want to buy a graphic card for games like gta4, crysis , dirt 2 etc with in low budget. I have e5300 dual core 2.6 ghz with 3 gb ram... My casing have two addtional fans. Any one plz give me sugestion that is evga nvidea 9800 gt 512mb is fit for me? is my casing reatain heat produced by it????????

@jawad I have a 9800GT and all those games run fine. With GTA4 and Crysis you might have to use medium settings (or something custom other than max), but it'll work fine. The heat depends on which brand of card you get - try to get one that blows the hot air out. 9800GT's can get really hot without decent airflow. You could also get a Zalman heatsink for it.

there are millions of other graphics cards that are better than 9800gt, but the topic at hand is "should you buy a 9800gt or 9500gt" in which case, 9800gt wins absolutely.
