GeForce GTX 750 vs GeForce RTX 2060

Intro

The GeForce GTX 750 makes use of a 28 nm design. nVidia has clocked the core speed at 1020 MHz. The GDDR5 RAM runs at a frequency of 1250 MHz on this card. It features 512 SPUs along with 32 Texture Address Units and 16 Rasterization Operator Units.

Compare that to the GeForce RTX 2060, which has core clock speeds of 1365 MHz on the GPU, and 1750 MHz on the 6144 MB of GDDR6 memory. It features 1920 SPUs along with 120 TAUs and 48 Rasterization Operator Units.

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

GeForce GTX 750 55 Watts
GeForce RTX 2060 160 Watts
Difference: 105 Watts (191%)

Memory Bandwidth

As far as performance goes, the GeForce RTX 2060 should in theory be much better than the GeForce GTX 750 in general. (explain)

GeForce RTX 2060 344064 MB/sec
GeForce GTX 750 80000 MB/sec
Difference: 264064 (330%)

Texel Rate

The GeForce RTX 2060 is a lot (approximately 402%) more effective at anisotropic filtering than the GeForce GTX 750. (explain)

GeForce RTX 2060 163800 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GTX 750 32640 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 131160 (402%)

Pixel Rate

If running with a high screen resolution is important to you, then the GeForce RTX 2060 is superior to the GeForce GTX 750, by a large margin. (explain)

GeForce RTX 2060 65520 Mpixels/sec
GeForce GTX 750 16320 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 49200 (301%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the max amount of information (counted in megabytes per second) that can be transferred across the external memory interface in a second. It's worked out by multiplying the interface width by its memory speed. If the card has DDR memory, it should be multiplied by 2 again. If DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The better the card's memory bandwidth, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, High Dynamic Range and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that are applied per second. This is calculated by multiplying the total number of texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The better this number, the better the graphics card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum amount of pixels that the graphics card could possibly record to the local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is calculated by multiplying the number of Render Output Units by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel fill rate also depends on lots of other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the max fill rate.
