GeForce GTX 570 vs GeForce GTX Titan Black

Intro

The GeForce GTX 570 comes with a clock frequency of 732 MHz and a GDDR5 memory frequency of 950 MHz. It also makes use of a 320-bit bus, and uses a 40 nm design. It is made up of 480 SPUs, 60 Texture Address Units, and 40 Raster Operation Units.

Compare all of that to the GeForce GTX Titan Black, which makes use of a 28 nm design. nVidia has set the core speed at 889 MHz. The GDDR5 RAM runs at a frequency of 1750 MHz on this specific card. It features 2880 SPUs as well as 240 TAUs and 48 ROPs.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the max amount of data (measured in MB per second) that can be transferred past the external memory interface in a second. It's calculated by multiplying the card's interface width by the speed of its memory. If it uses DDR RAM, the result should be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The better the card's memory bandwidth, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, HDR and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that are processed in one second. This number is worked out by multiplying the total texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The better the texel rate, the better the graphics card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels that the graphics card could possibly record to the local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is worked out by multiplying the number of Raster Operations Pipelines by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel rate also depends on lots of other factors, especially the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the potential to reach the maximum fill rate.
