Geforce GTX 760 vs Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB

Intro

The Geforce GTX 760 features core speeds of 980 MHz on the GPU, and 1502 MHz on the 2048 MB of GDDR5 memory. It features 1152 SPUs as well as 96 TAUs and 32 ROPs.

Compare those specifications to the Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB, which uses a 40 nm design. AMD has set the core speed at 800 MHz. The GDDR5 memory runs at a speed of 1000 MHz on this card. It features 480 SPUs along with 24 TAUs and 8 Rasterization Operator Units.

Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB 63 Watts
Geforce GTX 760 170 Watts
Difference: 107 Watts (170%)

Memory Bandwidth

The Geforce GTX 760 should in theory perform quite a bit faster than the Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB in general. (explain)

Geforce GTX 760 192256 MB/sec
Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB 64000 MB/sec
Difference: 128256 (200%)

Texel Rate

The Geforce GTX 760 is quite a bit (about 390%) more effective at AF than the Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB. (explain)

Geforce GTX 760 94080 Mtexels/sec
Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB 19200 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 74880 (390%)

Pixel Rate

If running with high levels of AA is important to you, then the Geforce GTX 760 is a better choice, by a large margin. (explain)

Geforce GTX 760 31360 Mpixels/sec
Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB 6400 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 24960 (390%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the maximum amount of information (in units of MB per second) that can be transferred past the external memory interface in one second. The number is calculated by multiplying the interface width by its memory clock speed. If it uses DDR type RAM, it should be multiplied by 2 again. If DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The better the memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, High Dynamic Range and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum number of texture map elements (texels) that are applied in one second. This figure is calculated by multiplying the total number of texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher this number, the better the graphics card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels that the graphics card could possibly record to the local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is calculated by multiplying the amount of ROPs by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel fill rate also depends on quite a few other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the potential to reach the maximum fill rate.
