Compare any two graphics cards:
Geforce GTX 770 vs Radeon HD 7970
IntroThe Geforce GTX 770 has core clock speeds of 1046 MHz on the GPU, and 1753 MHz on the 2048 MB of GDDR5 memory. It features 1536 SPUs as well as 128 Texture Address Units and 32 Rasterization Operator Units.Compare those specs to the Radeon HD 7970, which has GPU core speed of 925 MHz, and 3072 MB of GDDR5 memory running at 1375 MHz through a 384-bit bus. It also is made up of 2048 SPUs, 128 TAUs, and 32 Raster Operation Units.

Power Usage and Theoretical BenchmarksPower Consumption (Max TDP)
Memory BandwidthAs far as performance goes, the Radeon HD 7970 should in theory be just a bit better than the Geforce GTX 770 in general. (explain)
Texel RateThe Geforce GTX 770 is just a bit (approximately 13%) faster with regards to AF than the Radeon HD 7970. (explain)
Pixel RateThe Geforce GTX 770 will be a small bit (approximately 13%) faster with regards to anti-aliasing than the Radeon HD 7970, and will be able to handle higher resolutions while still performing well. (explain)
Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit. Price Comparison

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the max amount of information (counted in MB per second) that can be moved past the external memory interface in a second. The number is worked out by multiplying the bus width by its memory speed. In the case of DDR RAM, it should be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The better the memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, High Dynamic Range and high resolutions. Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that are processed in one second. This figure is worked out by multiplying the total amount of texture units by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher the texel rate, the better the card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed per second. Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels the video card can possibly write to its local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is calculated by multiplying the number of Raster Operations Pipelines by the the core speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also sometimes called Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel output rate also depends on quite a few other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the potential to reach the maximum fill rate.

5 Responses to “Geforce GTX 770 vs Radeon HD 7970”which card is better a msi r7970 lightning or evga 770 titan cooled ?
becouse i have a r7970 lightning.. :S
Depends, For video editing yes for most games, No. AMD Cards are better for Video editing and better at some games but Nividia is better for gaming, especially on the really popular games, BF3,Far Cry 3 ect... Those cards are pretty close though. The Asus 7970 ROG Matrix is better than the Lightning because of it's better cooling and heat dissipation. The 7970 ROG Matrix is also clocked to 316 GB/s and is much quieter and cooler than reference and lightning 7970's.
Add GHZ edition please

The Core Speed and Pixel Rate is wrong about 7970, fix this!
