Compare any two graphics cards:
GeForce GTX 580 vs Geforce GTX 680
IntroThe GeForce GTX 580 comes with a GPU core clock speed of 772 MHz, and the 1536 MB of GDDR5 RAM is set to run at 1002 MHz through a 384-bit bus. It also features 512 Stream Processors, 64 TAUs, and 48 Raster Operation Units.Compare those specifications to the Geforce GTX 680, which uses a 28 nm design. nVidia has clocked the core frequency at 1006 MHz. The GDDR5 memory works at a frequency of 1502 MHz on this particular model. It features 1536 SPUs along with 128 Texture Address Units and 32 ROPs.

Power Usage and Theoretical BenchmarksPower Consumption (Max TDP)
Memory BandwidthIn theory, the GeForce GTX 580 should perform a small bit faster than the Geforce GTX 680 in general. (explain)
Texel RateThe Geforce GTX 680 is much (approximately 161%) faster with regards to AF than the GeForce GTX 580. (explain)
Pixel RateThe GeForce GTX 580 will be a small bit (about 15%) better at full screen anti-aliasing than the Geforce GTX 680, and will be capable of handling higher screen resolutions better. (explain)
Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit. Price Comparison

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the largest amount of information (in units of megabytes per second) that can be transported over the external memory interface in one second. It is worked out by multiplying the card's bus width by its memory speed. If it uses DDR type RAM, it must be multiplied by 2 again. If DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The higher the bandwidth is, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and high resolutions. Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum number of texture map elements (texels) that are applied in one second. This figure is calculated by multiplying the total number of texture units by the core speed of the chip. The higher the texel rate, the better the video card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied per second. Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum amount of pixels that the graphics chip can possibly record to its local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is worked out by multiplying the number of Render Output Units by the the core speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also called Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel output rate also depends on lots of other factors, especially the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the max fill rate.

well texel rate is

So this whole article is BS, performance is not based on theoretical information.
Waste of time.....
Gtx 580 is better!!
580 better ?! Tt %61 at AF textures filtering. Only if you use high resolution without tex filters.
Ll 680 better for games regular pc
