Radeon HD 6950 2GB 200 Watts
Difference: 92 Watts (85%)

Memory Bandwidth

Performance-wise, the Radeon HD 6950 2GB should theoretically be quite a bit better than the Radeon HD 5770 in general. (explain)

Radeon HD 6950 2GB 160000 MB/sec
Radeon HD 5770 76800 MB/sec
Difference: 83200 (108%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon HD 6950 2GB is a lot (more or less 107%) better at AF than the Radeon HD 5770. (explain)

Radeon HD 6950 2GB 70400 Mtexels/sec
Radeon HD 5770 34000 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 36400 (107%)

Pixel Rate

If using a high screen resolution is important to you, then the Radeon HD 6950 2GB is a better choice, by far. (explain)

Radeon HD 6950 2GB 25600 Mpixels/sec
Radeon HD 5770 13600 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 12000 (88%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the max amount of information (counted in MB per second) that can be transferred across the external memory interface in one second. The number is worked out by multiplying the interface width by the speed of its memory. If the card has DDR type memory, the result should be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The better the memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that are applied per second. This figure is worked out by multiplying the total texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The better the texel rate, the better the graphics card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels that the graphics card could possibly record to the local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is calculated by multiplying the number of Raster Operations Pipelines by the the core speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also called Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel fill rate is also dependant on lots of other factors, especially the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the max fill rate.
