Radeon R7 370 2G vs Radeon RX 7900 XT

Intro

The Radeon R7 370 2G has core clock speeds of 975 MHz on the GPU, and 1400 MHz on the 2048 MB of GDDR5 memory. It features 1024 SPUs as well as 64 TAUs and 32 ROPs.

Compare all of that to the Radeon RX 7900 XT, which features GPU core speed of 1500 MHz, and 20480 MB of GDDR6 RAM running at 2500 MHz through a 320-bit bus. It also is made up of 5376 SPUs, 336 Texture Address Units, and 192 ROPs.

Radeon RX 7900 XT 819200 MB/sec
Radeon R7 370 2G 179200 MB/sec
Difference: 640000 (357%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 7900 XT will be a lot (about 708%) faster with regards to anisotropic filtering than the Radeon R7 370 2G. (explain)

Radeon RX 7900 XT 504000 Mtexels/sec
Radeon R7 370 2G 62400 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 441600 (708%)

Pixel Rate

The Radeon RX 7900 XT should be much (approximately 823%) better at AA than the Radeon R7 370 2G, and also will be capable of handling higher resolutions while still performing well. (explain)

Radeon RX 7900 XT 288000 Mpixels/sec
Radeon R7 370 2G 31200 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 256800 (823%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the max amount of information (measured in MB per second) that can be transported across the external memory interface in a second. It is worked out by multiplying the card's bus width by the speed of its memory. In the case of DDR type memory, it should be multiplied by 2 again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the card's memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, High Dynamic Range and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that can be processed per second. This number is worked out by multiplying the total amount of texture units by the core speed of the chip. The better this number, the better the card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels the video card can possibly write to its local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is worked out by multiplying the amount of Render Output Units by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel rate is also dependant on quite a few other factors, especially the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the maximum fill rate.
