GeForce GTX 1630 vs Radeon RX 570

Intro

The GeForce GTX 1630 has a clock frequency of 1740 MHz and a GDDR6 memory frequency of 1500 MHz. It also features a 64-bit memory bus, and uses a 12 nm design. It features 512 SPUs, 32 Texture Address Units, and 16 ROPs.

Compare all that to the Radeon RX 570, which has a GPU core clock speed of 1168 MHz, and 4096 MB of GDDR5 RAM running at 1750 MHz through a 256-bit bus. It also is comprised of 2048 SPUs, 128 Texture Address Units, and 32 Raster Operation Units.

As far as performance goes, the Radeon RX 570 should in theory be much better than the GeForce GTX 1630 overall. (explain)

Radeon RX 570 229376 MB/sec
GeForce GTX 1630 98304 MB/sec
Difference: 131072 (133%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 570 is much (approximately 169%) better at texture filtering than the GeForce GTX 1630. (explain)

Radeon RX 570 149504 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GTX 1630 55680 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 93824 (169%)

Pixel Rate

The Radeon RX 570 will be a lot (approximately 34%) better at anti-aliasing than the GeForce GTX 1630, and capable of handling higher screen resolutions more effectively. (explain)

Radeon RX 570 37376 Mpixels/sec
GeForce GTX 1630 27840 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 9536 (34%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the max amount of data (measured in MB per second) that can be moved over the external memory interface in one second. It's worked out by multiplying the card's bus width by its memory clock speed. If it uses DDR type RAM, it should be multiplied by 2 again. If DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The better the bandwidth is, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, High Dynamic Range and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that can be applied in one second. This number is worked out by multiplying the total amount of texture units by the core clock speed of the chip. The better this number, the better the graphics card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum amount of pixels that the graphics chip could possibly record to the local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is calculated by multiplying the amount of ROPs by the clock speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also sometimes called Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel rate is also dependant on many other factors, especially the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the maximum fill rate.
