GeForce GTX 950 vs Radeon RX 6750 XT

Intro

The GeForce GTX 950 comes with a GPU core speed of 1024 MHz, and the 2048 MB of GDDR5 memory is set to run at 1652 MHz through a 128-bit bus. It also is made up of 768 SPUs, 48 TAUs, and 32 ROPs.

Compare those specs to the Radeon RX 6750 XT, which makes use of a 7 nm design. AMD has clocked the core speed at 2150 MHz. The GDDR6 RAM runs at a speed of 2250 MHz on this particular model. It features 2560 SPUs as well as 160 TAUs and 64 Rasterization Operator Units.

Radeon RX 6750 XT 250 Watts
Difference: 160 Watts (178%)

Memory Bandwidth

The Radeon RX 6750 XT, in theory, should be much faster than the GeForce GTX 950 in general. (explain)

Radeon RX 6750 XT 442368 MB/sec
GeForce GTX 950 105728 MB/sec
Difference: 336640 (318%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 6750 XT will be a lot (approximately 600%) more effective at anisotropic filtering than the GeForce GTX 950. (explain)

Radeon RX 6750 XT 344000 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GTX 950 49152 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 294848 (600%)

Pixel Rate

The Radeon RX 6750 XT should be much (approximately 320%) more effective at AA than the GeForce GTX 950, and capable of handling higher resolutions while still performing well. (explain)

Radeon RX 6750 XT 137600 Mpixels/sec
GeForce GTX 950 32768 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 104832 (320%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the maximum amount of data (counted in megabytes per second) that can be transferred across the external memory interface in one second. It is calculated by multiplying the interface width by the speed of its memory. If it uses DDR RAM, it must be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The better the card's memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that are applied per second. This figure is worked out by multiplying the total number of texture units by the core speed of the chip. The higher this number, the better the card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum amount of pixels the video card could possibly record to its local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is worked out by multiplying the amount of ROPs by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also sometimes called Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel output rate is also dependant on quite a few other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the max fill rate.
