GeForce GTX 1060 3GB vs Radeon RX 6750 XT

Intro

The GeForce GTX 1060 3GB comes with core clock speeds of 1506 MHz on the GPU, and 2000 MHz on the 3072 MB of GDDR5 RAM. It features 1152 SPUs as well as 72 Texture Address Units and 48 Rasterization Operator Units.

Compare those specifications to the Radeon RX 6750 XT, which comes with core speeds of 2150 MHz on the GPU, and 2250 MHz on the 12288 MB of GDDR6 memory. It features 2560 SPUs as well as 160 TAUs and 64 Rasterization Operator Units.

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

GeForce GTX 1060 3GB 120 Watts
Radeon RX 6750 XT 250 Watts
Difference: 130 Watts (108%)

Memory Bandwidth

As far as performance goes, the Radeon RX 6750 XT should in theory be quite a bit superior to the GeForce GTX 1060 3GB overall. (explain)

Radeon RX 6750 XT 442368 MB/sec
GeForce GTX 1060 3GB 196608 MB/sec
Difference: 245760 (125%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 6750 XT should be quite a bit (about 217%) more effective at anisotropic filtering than the GeForce GTX 1060 3GB. (explain)

Radeon RX 6750 XT 344000 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GTX 1060 3GB 108432 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 235568 (217%)

Pixel Rate

If running with high levels of AA is important to you, then the Radeon RX 6750 XT is a better choice, and very much so. (explain)

Radeon RX 6750 XT 137600 Mpixels/sec
GeForce GTX 1060 3GB 72288 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 65312 (90%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the max amount of data (counted in megabytes per second) that can be moved past the external memory interface in one second. It is calculated by multiplying the interface width by its memory clock speed. If the card has DDR RAM, it must be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The higher the memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, HDR and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that are applied in one second. This figure is worked out by multiplying the total texture units by the core speed of the chip. The higher the texel rate, the better the card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum amount of pixels the video card can possibly write to the local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is worked out by multiplying the number of Raster Operations Pipelines by the clock speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also called Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel output rate also depends on lots of other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the maximum fill rate.
