Radeon RX 6500 XT vs Radeon RX 6650 XT

Intro

The Radeon RX 6500 XT features core speeds of 2200 MHz on the GPU, and 2250 MHz on the 4096 MB of GDDR6 RAM. It features 1024 SPUs as well as 64 TAUs and 32 Rasterization Operator Units.

Compare all that to the Radeon RX 6650 XT, which features a clock speed of 2055 MHz and a GDDR6 memory frequency of 2190 MHz. It also makes use of a 128-bit bus, and uses a 7 nm design. It is comprised of 2048 SPUs, 128 Texture Address Units, and 64 Raster Operation Units.

Radeon RX 6500 XT 147456 MB/sec
Difference: 139616 (95%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 6650 XT is much (more or less 87%) more effective at anisotropic filtering than the Radeon RX 6500 XT. (explain)

Radeon RX 6650 XT 263040 Mtexels/sec
Radeon RX 6500 XT 140800 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 122240 (87%)

Pixel Rate

The Radeon RX 6650 XT is much (about 87%) faster with regards to full screen anti-aliasing than the Radeon RX 6500 XT, and able to handle higher screen resolutions better. (explain)

Radeon RX 6650 XT 131520 Mpixels/sec
Radeon RX 6500 XT 70400 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 61120 (87%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the maximum amount of information (counted in megabytes per second) that can be moved across the external memory interface in a second. It's calculated by multiplying the bus width by its memory speed. If it uses DDR type memory, it must be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The higher the bandwidth is, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, HDR and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that are applied in one second. This figure is worked out by multiplying the total amount of texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher the texel rate, the better the graphics card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum amount of pixels that the graphics card can possibly write to the local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is calculated by multiplying the number of ROPs by the clock speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel fill rate also depends on many other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the max fill rate.
