Radeon HD 7750 vs Radeon RX 5600 XT

Intro

The Radeon HD 7750 comes with core clock speeds of 800 MHz on the GPU, and 1125 MHz on the 1024 MB of GDDR5 RAM. It features 512 SPUs as well as 32 TAUs and 16 ROPs.

Compare those specifications to the Radeon RX 5600 XT, which features a clock speed of 1375 MHz and a GDDR6 memory frequency of 1500 MHz. It also makes use of a 192-bit memory bus, and makes use of a 7 nm design. It is made up of 2304 SPUs, 144 TAUs, and 64 Raster Operation Units.

As far as performance goes, the Radeon RX 5600 XT should in theory be much better than the Radeon HD 7750 overall. (explain)

Radeon RX 5600 XT 344064 MB/sec
Radeon HD 7750 72000 MB/sec
Difference: 272064 (378%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 5600 XT is a lot (more or less 673%) better at AF than the Radeon HD 7750. (explain)

Radeon RX 5600 XT 198000 Mtexels/sec
Radeon HD 7750 25600 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 172400 (673%)

Pixel Rate

The Radeon RX 5600 XT is much (about 588%) faster with regards to AA than the Radeon HD 7750, and also will be able to handle higher screen resolutions better. (explain)

Radeon RX 5600 XT 88000 Mpixels/sec
Radeon HD 7750 12800 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 75200 (588%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the largest amount of data (counted in megabytes per second) that can be transported across the external memory interface within a second. It's calculated by multiplying the card's interface width by its memory clock speed. If the card has DDR memory, it should be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The higher the memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, HDR and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that are processed per second. This is calculated by multiplying the total number of texture units of the card by the core speed of the chip. The better the texel rate, the better the graphics card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed in one second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels that the graphics card can possibly record to the local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is worked out by multiplying the number of Render Output Units by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also called Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel output rate also depends on lots of other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the max fill rate.
