Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB vs Radeon RX 460

Intro

The Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB comes with a core clock frequency of 800 MHz and a GDDR5 memory speed of 1000 MHz. It also makes use of a 128-bit bus, and makes use of a 40 nm design. It is comprised of 480 SPUs, 24 TAUs, and 8 ROPs.

Compare all of that to the Radeon RX 460, which comes with core clock speeds of 1090 MHz on the GPU, and 1750 MHz on the 4096 MB of GDDR5 memory. It features 896 SPUs as well as 56 Texture Address Units and 16 Rasterization Operator Units.

Radeon RX 460 75 Watts
Difference: 12 Watts (19%)

Memory Bandwidth

Performance-wise, the Radeon RX 460 should in theory be much better than the Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB overall. (explain)

Radeon RX 460 112000 MB/sec
Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB 64000 MB/sec
Difference: 48000 (75%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 460 will be much (about 218%) more effective at AF than the Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB. (explain)

Radeon RX 460 61040 Mtexels/sec
Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB 19200 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 41840 (218%)

Pixel Rate

If using a high screen resolution is important to you, then the Radeon RX 460 is superior to the Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB, by far. (explain)

Radeon RX 460 17440 Mpixels/sec
Radeon HD 6670 (OEM) 1GB 6400 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 11040 (173%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the maximum amount of information (in units of MB per second) that can be transported over the external memory interface within a second. The number is worked out by multiplying the interface width by the speed of its memory. In the case of DDR memory, it should be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The higher the bandwidth is, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that can be applied per second. This is calculated by multiplying the total number of texture units by the core speed of the chip. The better the texel rate, the better the card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum amount of pixels that the graphics chip can possibly write to its local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is worked out by multiplying the amount of Render Output Units by the the core speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - sometimes also referred to as Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel output rate is also dependant on lots of other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the potential to reach the maximum fill rate.
