GeForce 810M vs Radeon HD 6570 (OEM) 2GB

Intro

The GeForce 810M makes use of a 28 nm design. nVidia has set the core speed at 738 MHz. The DDR3 memory works at a speed of 900 MHz on this specific model. It features 48 SPUs along with 8 TAUs and 4 ROPs.

Compare all that to the Radeon HD 6570 (OEM) 2GB, which comes with a core clock speed of 650 MHz and a GDDR5 memory frequency of 1000 MHz. It also uses a 128-bit bus, and uses a 40 nm design. It features 480 SPUs, 24 Texture Address Units, and 8 ROPs.

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

GeForce 810M 15 Watts
Radeon HD 6570 (OEM) 2GB 50 Watts
Difference: 35 Watts (233%)

Memory Bandwidth

As far as performance goes, the Radeon HD 6570 (OEM) 2GB should in theory be a lot better than the GeForce 810M in general. (explain)

Radeon HD 6570 (OEM) 2GB 64000 MB/sec
GeForce 810M 14400 MB/sec
Difference: 49600 (344%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon HD 6570 (OEM) 2GB is quite a bit (more or less 164%) more effective at texture filtering than the GeForce 810M. (explain)

Radeon HD 6570 (OEM) 2GB 15600 Mtexels/sec
GeForce 810M 5904 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 9696 (164%)

Pixel Rate

If using high levels of AA is important to you, then the Radeon HD 6570 (OEM) 2GB is the winner, and very much so. (explain)

Radeon HD 6570 (OEM) 2GB 5200 Mpixels/sec
GeForce 810M 2952 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 2248 (76%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the max amount of information (counted in megabytes per second) that can be transferred past the external memory interface in a second. It's calculated by multiplying the card's bus width by the speed of its memory. If it uses DDR type memory, the result should be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The higher the memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, High Dynamic Range and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that can be applied in one second. This number is worked out by multiplying the total amount of texture units by the core speed of the chip. The better the texel rate, the better the card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels the video card can possibly write to the local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is worked out by multiplying the amount of colour ROPs by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also sometimes called Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel fill rate is also dependant on lots of other factors, especially the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the max fill rate.
