GeForce GTX 650 Ti vs Radeon HD 3650 512MB

Intro

The GeForce GTX 650 Ti features a GPU core clock speed of 928 MHz, and the 1024 MB of GDDR5 memory runs at 1350 MHz through a 128-bit bus. It also is made up of 768 SPUs, 64 Texture Address Units, and 16 Raster Operation Units.

Compare those specifications to the Radeon HD 3650 512MB, which features core speeds of 725 MHz on the GPU, and 800 MHz on the 512 MB of GDDR3 memory. It features 120(24x5) SPUs as well as 8 TAUs and 4 Rasterization Operator Units.

GeForce GTX 650 Ti 110 Watts
Difference: 32 Watts (41%)

Memory Bandwidth

Theoretically speaking, the GeForce GTX 650 Ti should be 238% quicker than the Radeon HD 3650 512MB in general, because of its greater bandwidth. (explain)

GeForce GTX 650 Ti 86400 MB/sec
Radeon HD 3650 512MB 25600 MB/sec
Difference: 60800 (238%)

Texel Rate

The GeForce GTX 650 Ti is quite a bit (about 924%) better at anisotropic filtering than the Radeon HD 3650 512MB. (explain)

GeForce GTX 650 Ti 59392 Mtexels/sec
Radeon HD 3650 512MB 5800 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 53592 (924%)

Pixel Rate

If using a high screen resolution is important to you, then the GeForce GTX 650 Ti is a better choice, by a large margin. (explain)

GeForce GTX 650 Ti 14848 Mpixels/sec
Radeon HD 3650 512MB 2900 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 11948 (412%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the maximum amount of information (in units of MB per second) that can be transported across the external memory interface in one second. The number is worked out by multiplying the bus width by its memory clock speed. If it uses DDR memory, the result should be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The better the card's memory bandwidth, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, HDR and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that can be processed per second. This figure is calculated by multiplying the total number of texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher this number, the better the graphics card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels the video card could possibly record to the local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is calculated by multiplying the number of Render Output Units by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also sometimes called Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel fill rate is also dependant on many other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the potential to get to the max fill rate.
