Display Specifications
Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the maximum amount of information (counted in megabytes per second) that can be transferred over the external memory interface in a second. The number is calculated by multiplying the card's interface width by the speed of its memory. In the case of DDR RAM, it should be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The higher the bandwidth is, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and high resolutions. Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum number of texture map elements (texels) that are processed per second. This is worked out by multiplying the total texture units by the core speed of the chip. The better the texel rate, the better the graphics card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied in one second. Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels that the graphics chip can possibly write to its local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is worked out by multiplying the amount of Render Output Units by the clock speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel rate is also dependant on many other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the max fill rate.

It is totally wrong, 5970 have 116 Mtexels/sec pixel rate and 46.6 Mtexels/sec texel rate. hwcompare is giving wrong information here.
yeah in one core. Maybe hwcompare have calculated HD 5970 Texel/Pixel rate together. This card have 2 gpu inside it. 😀

I own one 5970, and i can say its just plain wrong calculation of textel and pixel fill rate.
5970 is equivalent 5870 x 2,
the 5870 have 32 ROP and 80 texel units, so the site is wrongly doubling the doubled value. This performance would be theorically only possible for 2x 5970. Plus performance issues related to crossfire.
You peple seem to be forgeting the 5970 is dual gpu so of course its going to out perform and these benchmarks are usaully without updates
