GeForce GTX Titan Black vs Radeon RX 6600

Intro

The GeForce GTX Titan Black features a core clock frequency of 889 MHz and a GDDR5 memory frequency of 1750 MHz. It also makes use of a 384-bit memory bus, and makes use of a 28 nm design. It is comprised of 2880 SPUs, 240 TAUs, and 48 Raster Operation Units.

Compare all of that to the Radeon RX 6600, which uses a 7 nm design. AMD has clocked the core speed at 1626 MHz. The GDDR6 RAM works at a frequency of 1750 MHz on this particular model. It features 1792 SPUs along with 112 TAUs and 64 Rasterization Operator Units.

GeForce GTX Titan Black 250 Watts
Difference: 118 Watts (89%)

Memory Bandwidth

The GeForce GTX Titan Black should in theory be a lot faster than the Radeon RX 6600 overall. (explain)

GeForce GTX Titan Black 336000 MB/sec
Radeon RX 6600 229376 MB/sec
Difference: 106624 (46%)

Texel Rate

The GeForce GTX Titan Black will be a little bit (about 17%) better at anisotropic filtering than the Radeon RX 6600. (explain)

GeForce GTX Titan Black 213360 Mtexels/sec
Radeon RX 6600 182112 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 31248 (17%)

Pixel Rate

The Radeon RX 6600 should be quite a bit (about 144%) more effective at anti-aliasing than the GeForce GTX Titan Black, and also capable of handling higher resolutions more effectively. (explain)

Radeon RX 6600 104064 Mpixels/sec
GeForce GTX Titan Black 42672 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 61392 (144%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the largest amount of data (counted in megabytes per second) that can be transferred past the external memory interface within a second. It is worked out by multiplying the card's interface width by its memory clock speed. If it uses DDR type RAM, the result should be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The better the card's memory bandwidth, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, High Dynamic Range and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum number of texture map elements (texels) that can be applied per second. This is worked out by multiplying the total amount of texture units of the card by the core speed of the chip. The higher the texel rate, the better the video card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels that the graphics chip can possibly write to its local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is worked out by multiplying the number of Render Output Units by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - sometimes also referred to as Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel fill rate also depends on lots of other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the potential to get to the max fill rate.
