GeForce GTX 1650 vs Radeon HD 4550 512MB

Intro

The GeForce GTX 1650 comes with core speeds of 1485 MHz on the GPU, and 2001 MHz on the 4096 MB of GDDR5 RAM. It features 896 SPUs along with 56 Texture Address Units and 32 Rasterization Operator Units.

Compare all of that to the Radeon HD 4550 512MB, which features GPU core speed of 600 MHz, and 512 MB of GDDR3 RAM running at 800 MHz through a 64-bit bus. It also is made up of 80(16x5) SPUs, 8 Texture Address Units, and 4 ROPs.

Radeon HD 4550 512MB 25 Watts
GeForce GTX 1650 75 Watts
Difference: 50 Watts (200%)

Memory Bandwidth

Theoretically speaking, the GeForce GTX 1650 will be 924% quicker than the Radeon HD 4550 512MB in general, due to its higher bandwidth. (explain)

GeForce GTX 1650 131072 MB/sec
Radeon HD 4550 512MB 12800 MB/sec
Difference: 118272 (924%)

Texel Rate

The GeForce GTX 1650 will be much (approximately 1633%) more effective at texture filtering than the Radeon HD 4550 512MB. (explain)

GeForce GTX 1650 83160 Mtexels/sec
Radeon HD 4550 512MB 4800 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 78360 (1633%)

Pixel Rate

If using a high resolution is important to you, then the GeForce GTX 1650 is a better choice, and very much so. (explain)

GeForce GTX 1650 47520 Mpixels/sec
Radeon HD 4550 512MB 2400 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 45120 (1880%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the maximum amount of information (measured in MB per second) that can be moved past the external memory interface within a second. It is worked out by multiplying the interface width by the speed of its memory. If the card has DDR memory, it should be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the bandwidth is, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, High Dynamic Range and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that can be processed per second. This number is worked out by multiplying the total number of texture units by the core speed of the chip. The better the texel rate, the better the video card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels in one second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum amount of pixels that the graphics card could possibly write to its local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is worked out by multiplying the number of colour ROPs by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also called Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel output rate is also dependant on many other factors, especially the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the maximum fill rate.
