GeForce GTX 1050 Ti vs Radeon HD 6750

Intro

The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti uses a 14 nm design. nVidia has set the core speed at 1290 MHz. The GDDR5 RAM works at a speed of 1750 MHz on this specific model. It features 768 SPUs along with 48 Texture Address Units and 32 ROPs.

Compare all that to the Radeon HD 6750, which has a clock frequency of 725 MHz and a GDDR5 memory speed of 1000 MHz. It also uses a 128-bit memory bus, and makes use of a 40 nm design. It is made up of 720 SPUs, 36 Texture Address Units, and 16 Raster Operation Units.

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 75 Watts
Radeon HD 6750 86 Watts
Difference: 11 Watts (15%)

Memory Bandwidth

Theoretically, the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti should perform quite a bit faster than the Radeon HD 6750 in general. (explain)

GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 114688 MB/sec
Radeon HD 6750 64000 MB/sec
Difference: 50688 (79%)

Texel Rate

The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti is a lot (about 137%) more effective at texture filtering than the Radeon HD 6750. (explain)

GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 61920 Mtexels/sec
Radeon HD 6750 26100 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 35820 (137%)

Pixel Rate

If using a high resolution is important to you, then the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti is superior to the Radeon HD 6750, and very much so. (explain)

GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 41280 Mpixels/sec
Radeon HD 6750 11600 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 29680 (256%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the maximum amount of data (measured in MB per second) that can be moved across the external memory interface in a second. The number is worked out by multiplying the bus width by the speed of its memory. If the card has DDR type RAM, it should be multiplied by 2 again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the bandwidth is, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, High Dynamic Range and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum number of texture map elements (texels) that are applied in one second. This number is calculated by multiplying the total number of texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The better this number, the better the video card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels in one second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum amount of pixels the video card can possibly write to its local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is calculated by multiplying the amount of Render Output Units by the the core speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel fill rate is also dependant on lots of other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the maximum fill rate.
