Geforce GTX 760 vs Radeon R7 M360

Intro

The Geforce GTX 760 features clock speeds of 980 MHz on the GPU, and 1502 MHz on the 2048 MB of GDDR5 RAM. It features 1152 SPUs as well as 96 TAUs and 32 Rasterization Operator Units.

Compare all of that to the Radeon R7 M360, which has core clock speeds of 1125 MHz on the GPU, and 1000 MHz on the 2048 MB of DDR3 memory. It features 384 SPUs along with 24 TAUs and 8 ROPs.

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Memory Bandwidth

The Geforce GTX 760, in theory, should be a lot faster than the Radeon R7 M360 in general. (explain)

Geforce GTX 760 192256 MB/sec
Radeon R7 M360 16000 MB/sec
Difference: 176256 (1102%)

Texel Rate

The Geforce GTX 760 should be a lot (approximately 248%) better at anisotropic filtering than the Radeon R7 M360. (explain)

Geforce GTX 760 94080 Mtexels/sec
Radeon R7 M360 27000 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 67080 (248%)

Pixel Rate

The Geforce GTX 760 is quite a bit (approximately 248%) more effective at FSAA than the Radeon R7 M360, and also able to handle higher resolutions better. (explain)

Geforce GTX 760 31360 Mpixels/sec
Radeon R7 M360 9000 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 22360 (248%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the largest amount of information (in units of megabytes per second) that can be transferred over the external memory interface within a second. It is worked out by multiplying the card's interface width by its memory speed. If it uses DDR memory, it should be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the bandwidth is, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, High Dynamic Range and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that can be applied per second. This is calculated by multiplying the total amount of texture units by the core clock speed of the chip. The better this number, the better the card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels the video card could possibly record to its local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is worked out by multiplying the amount of Render Output Units by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also called Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel fill rate also depends on lots of other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the max fill rate.
