GeForce 810M vs Radeon HD 4670 1GB

Intro

The GeForce 810M comes with core speeds of 738 MHz on the GPU, and 900 MHz on the 1024 MB of DDR3 RAM. It features 48 SPUs along with 8 TAUs and 4 Rasterization Operator Units.

Compare that to the Radeon HD 4670 1GB, which comes with a core clock frequency of 750 MHz and a GDDR4/GDDR3/DDR3/DDR2 memory speed of 1100 MHz. It also makes use of a 128-bit bus, and makes use of a 55 nm design. It is comprised of 320(64x5) SPUs, 32 TAUs, and 8 ROPs.

Memory Bandwidth

Theoretically speaking, the Radeon HD 4670 1GB will be 144% quicker than the GeForce 810M overall, because of its higher data rate. (explain)

Radeon HD 4670 1GB 35200 MB/sec
GeForce 810M 14400 MB/sec
Difference: 20800 (144%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon HD 4670 1GB will be quite a bit (approximately 307%) better at AF than the GeForce 810M. (explain)

Radeon HD 4670 1GB 24000 Mtexels/sec
GeForce 810M 5904 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 18096 (307%)

Pixel Rate

The Radeon HD 4670 1GB is quite a bit (more or less 103%) faster with regards to AA than the GeForce 810M, and will be capable of handling higher screen resolutions better. (explain)

Radeon HD 4670 1GB 6000 Mpixels/sec
GeForce 810M 2952 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 3048 (103%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the maximum amount of data (in units of megabytes per second) that can be transferred over the external memory interface in a second. It is calculated by multiplying the interface width by its memory speed. If it uses DDR memory, it must be multiplied by 2 again. If DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The higher the memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, High Dynamic Range and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that are processed per second. This number is worked out by multiplying the total number of texture units of the card by the core speed of the chip. The higher the texel rate, the better the graphics card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels the graphics card could possibly record to its local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The figure is calculated by multiplying the number of colour ROPs by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel fill rate is also dependant on quite a few other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the potential to reach the max fill rate.
