Theoretically, the Radeon HD 7950 3GB should be quite a bit faster than the Radeon R9 380 4G in general. (explain)

Radeon HD 7950 3GB 240000 MB/sec
Radeon R9 380 4G 182400 MB/sec
Difference: 57600 (32%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon R9 380 4G is quite a bit (more or less 21%) better at texture filtering than the Radeon HD 7950 3GB. (explain)

Radeon R9 380 4G 108640 Mtexels/sec
Radeon HD 7950 3GB 89600 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 19040 (21%)

Pixel Rate

If using a high screen resolution is important to you, then the Radeon R9 380 4G is superior to the Radeon HD 7950 3GB, by far. (explain)

Radeon R9 380 4G 31040 Mpixels/sec
Radeon HD 7950 3GB 25600 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 5440 (21%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the maximum amount of data (counted in MB per second) that can be moved over the external memory interface in a second. It is worked out by multiplying the bus width by its memory speed. If it uses DDR memory, it should be multiplied by 2 again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the card's memory bandwidth, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that are processed per second. This number is worked out by multiplying the total amount of texture units of the card by the core speed of the chip. The better this number, the better the graphics card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels in one second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels the video card can possibly record to its local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is worked out by multiplying the amount of ROPs by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also sometimes called Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel rate also depends on many other factors, especially the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the potential to get to the maximum fill rate.
