Texel Rate

The Radeon HD 7770 should be a small bit (more or less 18%) more effective at anisotropic filtering than the GeForce GTX 650. (explain)

Radeon HD 7770 40000 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GTX 650 33856 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 6144 (18%)

Pixel Rate

If running with a high resolution is important to you, then the GeForce GTX 650 is superior to the Radeon HD 7770, but not by far. (explain)

GeForce GTX 650 16928 Mpixels/sec
Radeon HD 7770 16000 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 928 (6%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the max amount of data (measured in MB per second) that can be transferred over the external memory interface within a second. The number is calculated by multiplying the card's interface width by its memory clock speed. In the case of DDR RAM, it must be multiplied by 2 again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the bandwidth is, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, High Dynamic Range and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that are applied in one second. This is worked out by multiplying the total number of texture units by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher the texel rate, the better the card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels that the graphics chip could possibly record to its local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is worked out by multiplying the amount of ROPs by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also sometimes called Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel fill rate is also dependant on many other factors, especially the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the maximum fill rate.

Dane is right. GTX 650 > HD 7770

Gusta_Cz says:

No. HD 7770 is better. Search google!

Trifke says:

Yeah but up there writes that the GTX 650 is better than HD 7770 and I belive in that what I saw !!!

Anonymous says:

GTX 650 is a slightly faster card than the HD 7770 but the 7770 is makes it up in graphics. I would say that the HD 7770 is slightly better than the GTX 650 because graphics and performance is more important.

Noorba says:

I think these comparsion methods are useless. The pixel and texture fill rate with memory bandwidth information will never show the real performance of the GPU architecture. If there were theoretical computing performance (GFLOPS) in the comparsion, then that also wouldn't be enough to see the truth. Only real game tests are usefull so You'd rather check test at Techpowerup for example. Radeon HD7770 is faster by 15-20% than GTX650....it's a fact!

I will agree with most of them here and my research that gtx 650 is faster and consumes less power than amd hd7770
