Compare any two graphics cards:
GeForce GT 640 DDR3 vs Radeon HD 7750
IntroThe GeForce GT 640 DDR3 comes with a GPU core speed of 900 MHz, and the 2048 MB of DDR3 memory is set to run at 1782 MHz through a 128-bit bus. It also is made up of 384 Stream Processors, 32 Texture Address Units, and 16 ROPs.Compare those specifications to the Radeon HD 7750, which comes with core clock speeds of 800 MHz on the GPU, and 1125 MHz on the 1024 MB of GDDR5 RAM. It features 512 SPUs as well as 32 Texture Address Units and 16 ROPs.

3DMark Fire Strike Graphics Score
Power Usage and Theoretical BenchmarksPower Consumption (Max TDP)
Memory BandwidthIn theory, the Radeon HD 7750 should perform a lot faster than the GeForce GT 640 DDR3 overall. (explain)
Texel RateThe GeForce GT 640 DDR3 will be a little bit (more or less 13%) better at AF than the Radeon HD 7750. (explain)
Pixel RateIf using a high screen resolution is important to you, then the GeForce GT 640 DDR3 is a better choice, not by a very large margin though. (explain)
Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit. Price Comparison

Display Specifications
Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the max amount of information (in units of MB per second) that can be transferred across the external memory interface in a second. It is calculated by multiplying the interface width by its memory clock speed. In the case of DDR type memory, it must be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the bandwidth is, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and higher screen resolutions. Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that can be processed per second. This is worked out by multiplying the total texture units by the core clock speed of the chip. The better this number, the better the card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels per second. Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum amount of pixels the graphics card can possibly write to its local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is worked out by multiplying the amount of ROPs by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also sometimes called Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel rate is also dependant on quite a few other factors, especially the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the potential to reach the max fill rate.

im an nvidia fanboy but i got to admit gt 640 is shit comppared to hd 7750
the reality is that ati in HD Gaming is better than GForce but too expensive.
But why is the nvidia more expensive if the 7750 better :O
Confused!

Im not sure if we're looking on the same page (roe150 said 640 is shit compared to 7750) but GeForce is faster in every respect except for consuming more power.. I found it in low profile format £20 cheaper on ebay than 7750.
its because GT640 is highly capable in physx game, because it has 384 cuda processor and 1782 memory clock even its ddr3
Bottom line, HD 7750 is better at processing games, period.
I just grabbed HD 7750 to replace my HD 4650 without even thinking to change psu, even i only have 330watt psu!!
... and it run great!!! Wooohoo. NVDIA sucks i will never tricked by your stupid phsyx gimmick!
I have both the HD 7750 and a GT 640 but my my GT 640 card has GDDR 5 not GDDR 3. The bandwidth on 640 GDDR 5 card is approximately 91238 MB/sec. There is no comparison, it runs Skyrim, Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 at higher resolutions and framerates then the HD 7750.
This is a corrections to my last post about the GT 640 GDDR5 card I have:
Bandwidth - 80000 MB/s.
GPU Clock - 954 MHz
Memory Speed - 1250 MHz (2500)
GFlops - 910.4
Pixel Fill - 15.3 GPixel/s
Texture Fill - 30.5 GTexel/s
I apologize about my previous post, I misread the GPU-Z printout. (Senior moment)
Memory Speed 1782MHz.Ha ha, higher from every card that's ddr3 already
i have used gt 640 before and i bought a 7750 dont know why its better here but for me 7750 is like much much more faster in witcher 2 i can only play in low with gt640 but with hd 7750 i can play with high
What is this?!
What's going on here?
I have both of these cards (nV GT 640 2GB*GDDR3 vs ATi HD 7750 1GB GDDR5) AND THE nVIDIA card is rubbish compared to the ATi/AMD.
In fact, I replaced the nV card with the ATi one (and relegated it down the chain, to another machine) before buying another HD 7750 to run in CrossfireX.
I think you've got your GDDR3 memory speeds wrong here also.
