Nvidia Titan X vs Radeon RX 6750 XT

Intro

The Nvidia Titan X comes with a clock speed of 1417 MHz and a GDDR5X memory frequency of 1251 MHz. It also makes use of a 384-bit memory bus, and uses a 16 nm design. It is made up of 3584 SPUs, 224 TAUs, and 96 Raster Operation Units.

Compare that to the Radeon RX 6750 XT, which has GPU clock speed of 2150 MHz, and 12288 MB of GDDR6 memory running at 2250 MHz through a 192-bit bus. It also is comprised of 2560 Stream Processors, 160 Texture Address Units, and 64 ROPs.

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Both cards have the same power consumption.

Memory Bandwidth

Theoretically speaking, the Nvidia Titan X is 11% quicker than the Radeon RX 6750 XT overall, because of its greater data rate. (explain)

Nvidia Titan X 491520 MB/sec
Radeon RX 6750 XT 442368 MB/sec
Difference: 49152 (11%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 6750 XT is a bit (more or less 8%) better at AF than the Nvidia Titan X. (explain)

Radeon RX 6750 XT 344000 Mtexels/sec
Nvidia Titan X 317408 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 26592 (8%)

Pixel Rate

The Radeon RX 6750 XT is a small bit (more or less 1%) better at anti-aliasing than the Nvidia Titan X, and also capable of handling higher resolutions more effectively. (explain)

Radeon RX 6750 XT 137600 Mpixels/sec
Nvidia Titan X 136032 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 1568 (1%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the largest amount of information (in units of MB per second) that can be moved over the external memory interface in one second. It is worked out by multiplying the bus width by the speed of its memory. If it uses DDR memory, it should be multiplied by 2 again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The better the card's memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that can be applied per second. This figure is calculated by multiplying the total amount of texture units by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher the texel rate, the better the video card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels that the graphics chip could possibly write to the local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is worked out by multiplying the number of Raster Operations Pipelines by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also sometimes called Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel rate is also dependant on quite a few other factors, especially the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the potential to reach the max fill rate.
