Compare any two graphics cards:
GeForce GTX 550 Ti vs Radeon HD 6790
IntroThe GeForce GTX 550 Ti uses a 40 nm design. nVidia has set the core speed at 900 MHz. The GDDR5 memory is set to run at a speed of 1026 MHz on this specific model. It features 192 SPUs along with 32 Texture Address Units and 24 Rasterization Operator Units.Compare those specifications to the Radeon HD 6790, which features clock speeds of 840 MHz on the GPU, and 1050 MHz on the 1024 MB of GDDR5 RAM. It features 800 SPUs along with 40 TAUs and 16 Rasterization Operator Units.

3DMark Fire Strike Graphics Score
Power Usage and Theoretical BenchmarksPower Consumption (Max TDP)
Memory BandwidthPerformance-wise, the Radeon HD 6790 should theoretically be a lot superior to the GeForce GTX 550 Ti in general. (explain)
Texel RateThe Radeon HD 6790 will be a little bit (about 17%) faster with regards to texture filtering than the GeForce GTX 550 Ti. (explain)
Pixel RateIf using a high resolution is important to you, then the GeForce GTX 550 Ti is the winner, by far. (explain)
Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit. Price Comparison

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the largest amount of data (in units of MB per second) that can be transported over the external memory interface within a second. It is worked out by multiplying the bus width by its memory clock speed. If it uses DDR memory, the result should be multiplied by 2 again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the card's memory bandwidth, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and higher screen resolutions. Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that can be processed per second. This figure is calculated by multiplying the total amount of texture units by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher the texel rate, the better the graphics card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels in a second. Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels that the graphics card can possibly write to its local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is worked out by multiplying the number of Render Output Units by the clock speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also called Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel fill rate also depends on many other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the potential to reach the max fill rate.
