Radeon HD 4850 1GB 63552 MB/sec
Difference: 32448 (51%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon HD 4850 1GB is quite a bit (approximately 32%) more effective at AF than the GeForce GT 450 (OEM). (explain)

Radeon HD 4850 1GB 25000 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GT 450 (OEM) 18960 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 6040 (32%)

Pixel Rate

The GeForce GT 450 (OEM) should be quite a bit (approximately 90%) faster with regards to full screen anti-aliasing than the Radeon HD 4850 1GB, and capable of handling higher screen resolutions better. (explain)

GeForce GT 450 (OEM) 18960 Mpixels/sec
Radeon HD 4850 1GB 10000 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 8960 (90%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the maximum amount of information (measured in megabytes per second) that can be transported across the external memory interface in a second. It's worked out by multiplying the interface width by its memory clock speed. If it uses DDR type RAM, it should be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the card's memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, High Dynamic Range and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that are applied per second. This is worked out by multiplying the total texture units by the core clock speed of the chip. The better this number, the better the video card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels the graphics card can possibly record to its local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is worked out by multiplying the number of ROPs by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel fill rate is also dependant on quite a few other factors, especially the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the maximum fill rate.
