Radeon R7 370 4G vs Radeon RX 6950 XT

Intro

The Radeon R7 370 4G comes with clock speeds of 975 MHz on the GPU, and 1400 MHz on the 4096 MB of GDDR5 RAM. It features 1024 SPUs along with 64 TAUs and 32 ROPs.

Compare those specifications to the Radeon RX 6950 XT, which comes with a GPU core clock speed of 1925 MHz, and 16384 MB of GDDR6 RAM set to run at 2250 MHz through a 256-bit bus. It also is made up of 5120 SPUs, 320 Texture Address Units, and 128 Raster Operation Units.

Radeon RX 6950 XT 335 Watts
Difference: 225 Watts (205%)

Memory Bandwidth

As far as performance goes, the Radeon RX 6950 XT should theoretically be much superior to the Radeon R7 370 4G overall. (explain)

Radeon RX 6950 XT 589824 MB/sec
Radeon R7 370 4G 179200 MB/sec
Difference: 410624 (229%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 6950 XT is a lot (approximately 887%) faster with regards to anisotropic filtering than the Radeon R7 370 4G. (explain)

Radeon RX 6950 XT 616000 Mtexels/sec
Radeon R7 370 4G 62400 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 553600 (887%)

Pixel Rate

If using a high screen resolution is important to you, then the Radeon RX 6950 XT is a better choice, and very much so. (explain)

Radeon RX 6950 XT 246400 Mpixels/sec
Radeon R7 370 4G 31200 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 215200 (690%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the maximum amount of data (in units of megabytes per second) that can be transported over the external memory interface within a second. It's calculated by multiplying the interface width by the speed of its memory. In the case of DDR type memory, the result should be multiplied by 2 again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The better the card's memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, HDR and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that can be applied per second. This figure is calculated by multiplying the total number of texture units of the card by the core speed of the chip. The higher this number, the better the card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels the graphics card can possibly write to the local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is calculated by multiplying the number of Raster Operations Pipelines by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - sometimes also referred to as Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel rate is also dependant on many other factors, especially the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the max fill rate.
