GeForce GTX Titan Black vs Radeon RX 6750 XT

Intro

The GeForce GTX Titan Black has core speeds of 889 MHz on the GPU, and 1750 MHz on the 6144 MB of GDDR5 RAM. It features 2880 SPUs along with 240 Texture Address Units and 48 ROPs.

Compare all of that to the Radeon RX 6750 XT, which comes with a core clock speed of 2150 MHz and a GDDR6 memory speed of 2250 MHz. It also makes use of a 192-bit bus, and makes use of a 7 nm design. It is comprised of 2560 SPUs, 160 TAUs, and 64 Raster Operation Units.

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Both cards have the same power consumption.

Memory Bandwidth

Theoretically speaking, the Radeon RX 6750 XT should be much faster than the GeForce GTX Titan Black overall. (explain)

Radeon RX 6750 XT 442368 MB/sec
GeForce GTX Titan Black 336000 MB/sec
Difference: 106368 (32%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 6750 XT should be a lot (approximately 61%) faster with regards to AF than the GeForce GTX Titan Black. (explain)

Radeon RX 6750 XT 344000 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GTX Titan Black 213360 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 130640 (61%)

Pixel Rate

If using high levels of AA is important to you, then the Radeon RX 6750 XT is a better choice, by a large margin. (explain)

Radeon RX 6750 XT 137600 Mpixels/sec
GeForce GTX Titan Black 42672 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 94928 (222%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the largest amount of data (counted in MB per second) that can be transferred past the external memory interface in one second. It is calculated by multiplying the card's bus width by the speed of its memory. If it uses DDR memory, it should be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The better the memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, HDR and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum number of texture map elements (texels) that can be applied in one second. This figure is worked out by multiplying the total number of texture units by the core speed of the chip. The higher this number, the better the card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied in one second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum amount of pixels the video card can possibly write to its local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is calculated by multiplying the number of Raster Operations Pipelines by the clock speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also sometimes called Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel output rate also depends on quite a few other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the max fill rate.
