Radeon RX 6650 XT vs Radeon RX 6700 XT

Intro

The Radeon RX 6650 XT comes with a GPU clock speed of 2055 MHz, and the 8192 MB of GDDR6 memory runs at 2190 MHz through a 128-bit bus. It also features 2048 SPUs, 128 Texture Address Units, and 64 ROPs.

Compare all that to the Radeon RX 6700 XT, which features GPU core speed of 2321 MHz, and (Unknown) MB of GDDR6 RAM set to run at 2000 MHz through a 192-bit bus. It also features 2560 Stream Processors, 160 TAUs, and 64 ROPs.

Radeon RX 6650 XT 176 Watts
Radeon RX 6700 XT 230 Watts
Difference: 54 Watts (31%)

Memory Bandwidth

In theory, the Radeon RX 6700 XT should perform a lot faster than the Radeon RX 6650 XT overall. (explain)

Radeon RX 6700 XT 393216 MB/sec
Radeon RX 6650 XT 287072 MB/sec
Difference: 106144 (37%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 6700 XT is a lot (about 41%) better at texture filtering than the Radeon RX 6650 XT. (explain)

Radeon RX 6700 XT 371360 Mtexels/sec
Radeon RX 6650 XT 263040 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 108320 (41%)

Pixel Rate

If using high levels of AA is important to you, then the Radeon RX 6700 XT is a better choice, though only just barely. (explain)

Radeon RX 6700 XT 148544 Mpixels/sec
Radeon RX 6650 XT 131520 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 17024 (13%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the maximum amount of information (measured in MB per second) that can be transported across the external memory interface in a second. It is worked out by multiplying the card's bus width by its memory clock speed. In the case of DDR type memory, it must be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The better the memory bandwidth, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that are processed per second. This number is calculated by multiplying the total amount of texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The better the texel rate, the better the graphics card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed in one second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels that the graphics card could possibly record to the local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is calculated by multiplying the amount of Render Output Units by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel fill rate also depends on many other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the potential to reach the max fill rate.
