Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

GeForce RTX 3050 130 Watts
Radeon RX 5700 XT 225 Watts
Difference: 95 Watts (73%)

Memory Bandwidth

Performance-wise, the Radeon RX 5700 XT should in theory be much better than the GeForce RTX 3050 overall. (explain)

Radeon RX 5700 XT 458752 MB/sec
GeForce RTX 3050 229376 MB/sec
Difference: 229376 (100%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 5700 XT should be quite a bit (about 107%) better at anisotropic filtering than the GeForce RTX 3050. (explain)

Radeon RX 5700 XT 256800 Mtexels/sec
GeForce RTX 3050 124160 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 132640 (107%)

Pixel Rate

The Radeon RX 5700 XT is quite a bit (approximately 107%) more effective at AA than the GeForce RTX 3050, and also should be capable of handling higher resolutions while still performing well. (explain)

Radeon RX 5700 XT 102720 Mpixels/sec
GeForce RTX 3050 49664 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 53056 (107%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the max amount of information (measured in megabytes per second) that can be transferred past the external memory interface in one second. It is calculated by multiplying the card's interface width by its memory clock speed. If the card has DDR memory, it must be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the bandwidth is, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that can be processed in one second. This number is worked out by multiplying the total texture units by the core speed of the chip. The higher this number, the better the video card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied in one second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels that the graphics card can possibly write to the local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is worked out by multiplying the amount of Raster Operations Pipelines by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - sometimes also referred to as Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel output rate is also dependant on many other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the maximum fill rate.
