Nvidia Titan Xp vs Radeon RX 6700 XT

Intro

The Nvidia Titan Xp has a GPU clock speed of 1582 MHz, and the 12288 MB of GDDR5X memory is set to run at 1426 MHz through a 384-bit bus. It also features 3840 SPUs, 240 Texture Address Units, and 96 ROPs.

Compare those specifications to the Radeon RX 6700 XT, which features core clock speeds of 2321 MHz on the GPU, and 2000 MHz on the (Unknown) MB of GDDR6 RAM. It features 2560 SPUs along with 160 TAUs and 64 ROPs.

Nvidia Titan Xp 560845 MB/sec
Radeon RX 6700 XT 393216 MB/sec
Difference: 167629 (43%)

Texel Rate

The Nvidia Titan Xp should be a little bit (about 2%) more effective at texture filtering than the Radeon RX 6700 XT. (explain)

Nvidia Titan Xp 379680 Mtexels/sec
Radeon RX 6700 XT 371360 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 8320 (2%)

Pixel Rate

The Nvidia Titan Xp will be a little bit (about 2%) faster with regards to full screen anti-aliasing than the Radeon RX 6700 XT, and also able to handle higher resolutions better. (explain)

Nvidia Titan Xp 151872 Mpixels/sec
Radeon RX 6700 XT 148544 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 3328 (2%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the max amount of data (counted in megabytes per second) that can be transported across the external memory interface within a second. The number is worked out by multiplying the card's interface width by the speed of its memory. In the case of DDR memory, it must be multiplied by 2 again. If DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The better the bandwidth is, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, High Dynamic Range and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that can be processed in one second. This figure is worked out by multiplying the total number of texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The better the texel rate, the better the video card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels the graphics card can possibly record to its local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is calculated by multiplying the number of ROPs by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel fill rate is also dependant on quite a few other factors, especially the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the max fill rate.
