Radeon R7 360 vs Radeon RX 6900 XT

Intro

The Radeon R7 360 comes with a GPU core speed of 1050 MHz, and the 2048 MB of GDDR5 memory is set to run at 1625 MHz through a 128-bit bus. It also is comprised of 768 SPUs, 48 Texture Address Units, and 16 ROPs.

Compare all that to the Radeon RX 6900 XT, which features a GPU core clock speed of 1825 MHz, and 16384 MB of GDDR6 memory running at 2000 MHz through a 256-bit bus. It also features 5120 Stream Processors, 320 TAUs, and 128 Raster Operation Units.

Radeon RX 6900 XT 524288 MB/sec
Radeon R7 360 104000 MB/sec
Difference: 420288 (404%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 6900 XT should be a lot (approximately 1059%) more effective at texture filtering than the Radeon R7 360. (explain)

Radeon RX 6900 XT 584000 Mtexels/sec
Radeon R7 360 50400 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 533600 (1059%)

Pixel Rate

If using a high screen resolution is important to you, then the Radeon RX 6900 XT is superior to the Radeon R7 360, by far. (explain)

Radeon RX 6900 XT 233600 Mpixels/sec
Radeon R7 360 16800 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 216800 (1290%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the maximum amount of data (in units of megabytes per second) that can be transferred past the external memory interface in a second. It is calculated by multiplying the card's interface width by its memory clock speed. If the card has DDR type RAM, it should be multiplied by 2 again. If DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The higher the card's memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that are processed per second. This figure is calculated by multiplying the total texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher the texel rate, the better the graphics card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels the video card could possibly write to the local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is calculated by multiplying the number of ROPs by the the core speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also sometimes called Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel fill rate also depends on quite a few other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to get to the maximum fill rate.
