Radeon RX 570 vs Radeon RX 6900 XT

Intro

The Radeon RX 570 uses a 14 nm design. AMD has clocked the core frequency at 1168 MHz. The GDDR5 RAM runs at a speed of 1750 MHz on this specific card. It features 2048 SPUs as well as 128 Texture Address Units and 32 Rasterization Operator Units.

Compare all that to the Radeon RX 6900 XT, which has core speeds of 1825 MHz on the GPU, and 2000 MHz on the 16384 MB of GDDR6 RAM. It features 5120 SPUs along with 320 Texture Address Units and 128 Rasterization Operator Units.

Memory Bandwidth

Theoretically speaking, the Radeon RX 6900 XT is 129% quicker than the Radeon RX 570 overall, due to its greater bandwidth. (explain)

Radeon RX 6900 XT 524288 MB/sec
Radeon RX 570 229376 MB/sec
Difference: 294912 (129%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 6900 XT will be quite a bit (approximately 291%) faster with regards to AF than the Radeon RX 570. (explain)

Radeon RX 6900 XT 584000 Mtexels/sec
Radeon RX 570 149504 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 434496 (291%)

Pixel Rate

The Radeon RX 6900 XT is a lot (about 525%) better at FSAA than the Radeon RX 570, and able to handle higher resolutions while still performing well. (explain)

Radeon RX 6900 XT 233600 Mpixels/sec
Radeon RX 570 37376 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 196224 (525%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the max amount of information (in units of megabytes per second) that can be transferred over the external memory interface in a second. It's worked out by multiplying the bus width by the speed of its memory. If the card has DDR memory, it should be multiplied by 2 again. If DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The higher the memory bandwidth, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, High Dynamic Range and high resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that are processed in one second. This is calculated by multiplying the total number of texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The better this number, the better the video card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels the graphics card could possibly write to the local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is worked out by multiplying the amount of colour ROPs by the clock speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also sometimes called Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel rate also depends on quite a few other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the potential to get to the maximum fill rate.
