Radeon HD 6750 vs Radeon RX 560

Intro

The Radeon HD 6750 uses a 40 nm design. AMD has set the core frequency at 725 MHz. The GDDR5 RAM is set to run at a speed of 1000 MHz on this card. It features 720 SPUs along with 36 TAUs and 16 ROPs.

Compare that to the Radeon RX 560, which comes with GPU clock speed of 1175 MHz, and 4096 MB of GDDR5 memory running at 1750 MHz through a 128-bit bus. It also is made up of 1024 Stream Processors, 64 Texture Address Units, and 16 ROPs.

Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

Radeon RX 560 80 Watts
Radeon HD 6750 86 Watts
Difference: 6 Watts (8%)

Memory Bandwidth

Theoretically speaking, the Radeon RX 560 should be a lot faster than the Radeon HD 6750 overall. (explain)

Radeon RX 560 114688 MB/sec
Radeon HD 6750 64000 MB/sec
Difference: 50688 (79%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon RX 560 should be quite a bit (more or less 188%) more effective at anisotropic filtering than the Radeon HD 6750. (explain)

Radeon RX 560 75200 Mtexels/sec
Radeon HD 6750 26100 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 49100 (188%)

Pixel Rate

The Radeon RX 560 will be quite a bit (more or less 62%) faster with regards to anti-aliasing than the Radeon HD 6750, and also will be capable of handling higher resolutions more effectively. (explain)

Radeon RX 560 18800 Mpixels/sec
Radeon HD 6750 11600 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 7200 (62%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the maximum amount of data (measured in megabytes per second) that can be transferred across the external memory interface in one second. It is calculated by multiplying the card's bus width by its memory speed. If the card has DDR type memory, the result should be multiplied by 2 once again. If DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The higher the card's memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, High Dynamic Range and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum number of texture map elements (texels) that can be processed per second. This number is worked out by multiplying the total texture units of the card by the core clock speed of the chip. The higher the texel rate, the better the graphics card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels the graphics card can possibly record to the local memory in a second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is worked out by multiplying the number of Raster Operations Pipelines by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel rate is also dependant on many other factors, especially the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the potential to get to the max fill rate.
