Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Memory Bandwidth

In theory, the Radeon HD 7950 3GB should be much faster than the Radeon R9 M265X in general. (explain)

Radeon HD 7950 3GB 240000 MB/sec
Radeon R9 M265X 72000 MB/sec
Difference: 168000 (233%)

Texel Rate

The Radeon HD 7950 3GB should be quite a bit (approximately 290%) faster with regards to anisotropic filtering than the Radeon R9 M265X. (explain)

Radeon HD 7950 3GB 89600 Mtexels/sec
Radeon R9 M265X 23000 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 66600 (290%)

Pixel Rate

The Radeon HD 7950 3GB will be much (approximately 178%) better at anti-aliasing than the Radeon R9 M265X, and capable of handling higher screen resolutions more effectively. (explain)

Radeon HD 7950 3GB 25600 Mpixels/sec
Radeon R9 M265X 9200 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 16400 (178%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the largest amount of data (in units of MB per second) that can be moved past the external memory interface in one second. It is calculated by multiplying the bus width by the speed of its memory. If the card has DDR type RAM, it should be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The better the bandwidth is, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum amount of texture map elements (texels) that are processed per second. This figure is worked out by multiplying the total texture units by the core speed of the chip. The better this number, the better the graphics card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels the graphics card could possibly record to its local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. Pixel rate is calculated by multiplying the number of Raster Operations Pipelines by the the core speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - aka Render Output Units) are responsible for filling the screen with pixels (the image). The actual pixel fill rate also depends on lots of other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the potential to reach the maximum fill rate.
