GeForce GT 440 3GB 56 Watts
GeForce GTX 950 90 Watts
Difference: 34 Watts (61%)

Memory Bandwidth

In theory, the GeForce GTX 950 should be 145% quicker than the GeForce GT 440 3GB overall, because of its higher bandwidth. (explain)

GeForce GTX 950 105728 MB/sec
GeForce GT 440 3GB 43200 MB/sec
Difference: 62528 (145%)

Texel Rate

The GeForce GTX 950 will be much (about 245%) faster with regards to AF than the GeForce GT 440 3GB. (explain)

GeForce GTX 950 49152 Mtexels/sec
GeForce GT 440 3GB 14256 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 34896 (245%)

Pixel Rate

The GeForce GTX 950 will be a lot (more or less 130%) more effective at anti-aliasing than the GeForce GT 440 3GB, and will be capable of handling higher screen resolutions without losing too much performance. (explain)

GeForce GTX 950 32768 Mpixels/sec
GeForce GT 440 3GB 14256 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 18512 (130%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Bandwidth is the max amount of data (measured in MB per second) that can be transferred across the external memory interface in one second. It is worked out by multiplying the card's bus width by the speed of its memory. If the card has DDR RAM, the result should be multiplied by 2 once again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by ANOTHER 2x. The higher the bandwidth is, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, HDR and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that can be processed per second. This figure is calculated by multiplying the total number of texture units by the core speed of the chip. The better the texel rate, the better the video card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels processed in a second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum amount of pixels that the graphics chip can possibly record to its local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is calculated by multiplying the amount of colour ROPs by the the core speed of the card. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also called Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel rate is also dependant on quite a few other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the memory bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the max fill rate.
