Power Usage and Theoretical Benchmarks

Power Consumption (Max TDP)

Radeon HD 6450 (OEM) 1GB 31 Watts
GeForce 9600 GSO 1.5GB 84 Watts
Difference: 53 Watts (171%)

Memory Bandwidth

As far as performance goes, the GeForce 9600 GSO 1.5GB should theoretically be a lot better than the Radeon HD 6450 (OEM) 1GB in general. (explain)

GeForce 9600 GSO 1.5GB 38400 MB/sec
Radeon HD 6450 (OEM) 1GB 28800 MB/sec
Difference: 9600 (33%)

Texel Rate

The GeForce 9600 GSO 1.5GB is much (approximately 340%) faster with regards to texture filtering than the Radeon HD 6450 (OEM) 1GB. (explain)

GeForce 9600 GSO 1.5GB 26400 Mtexels/sec
Radeon HD 6450 (OEM) 1GB 6000 Mtexels/sec
Difference: 20400 (340%)

Pixel Rate

If using a high resolution is important to you, then the GeForce 9600 GSO 1.5GB is the winner, and very much so. (explain)

GeForce 9600 GSO 1.5GB 6600 Mpixels/sec
Radeon HD 6450 (OEM) 1GB 3000 Mpixels/sec
Difference: 3600 (120%)

Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit.

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the max amount of information (counted in megabytes per second) that can be transferred across the external memory interface in one second. It is worked out by multiplying the card's bus width by the speed of its memory. In the case of DDR type RAM, it must be multiplied by 2 again. If it uses DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The better the card's memory bandwidth, the better the card will be in general. It especially helps with anti-aliasing, High Dynamic Range and higher screen resolutions.

Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum texture map elements (texels) that can be processed per second. This number is calculated by multiplying the total amount of texture units of the card by the core speed of the chip. The higher this number, the better the card will be at texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied per second.

Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the most pixels the graphics card could possibly record to its local memory in one second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is calculated by multiplying the number of Render Output Units by the the core clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - also called Render Output Units) are responsible for drawing the pixels (image) on the screen. The actual pixel output rate is also dependant on many other factors, most notably the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the ability to reach the max fill rate.
